Cybernet has developed machine vision for position/orientation determination based on simple barcode markers. This pose determination was developed to support our augmented reality efforts, but it can be quickly adapted for other purposes such as in this video, which shows the pose determination being used to fill the role of a full 6 degree-of-freedom input device. In this video, the position and orientation of the end effector of the primitive virtual robot is slaved to the motions of the operators hand via a small passive handheld target. Both rotations and translations have the ability to be scaled up or down to optimize ease of control. This demonstration shows a preliminary capability that can be refined for specific future applications.
