Maryland’s Garrett College is known as a national leader in the use of advanced telecommunications and computer technology, and found itself in need of a new e-mail and Web server, which had been outsourced to a local Internet Service Provider (ISP). In addition, the college sought a solution that could cost effectively provide a seamless transition for the 170 staff and faculty members relying on e-mail communications and web services, as well as the small team of IT professionals responsible for the college’s entire network.

After evaluating several software packages, Garrett College selected Cybernet's Linux-based NetMAX Professional Suite. Although the majority of Garrett College's server applications run on Windows-based machines, NetMAX seamlessly integrated within the existing network. In 2003, when the college decided to rebuild its e-mail server, it again chose NetMAX and upgraded to the NetMAX Professional Suite 4.3 with the E-mail Powerpack. The application package has enabled the IT department to successfully meet the demands of the school's communication needs with a minimal amount of maintenance.
