Cybernet Medical to Showcase Internet-Enabled
Medical Diagnostic Network at Disease Management Conference
Ann Arbor, Michigan - May 7, 2001
Cybernet Medical, a division of the Internet research and development
company Cybernet Systems, today announced a sneak preview demonstration
of its Internet-enabled medical diagnostic network at the disease management
conference The Symposium on Advances in Chronic Disease Care, May 9-11
in Palm Springs, Calif. During the conference in Booth #2, attendees
can use a standard at-home monitoring device such as a blood pressure
cuff or scale to gather physiological data. They can then transmit
the data via the Internet to a prototype Web site using Cybernet's MedStar
device and network interface. The site is an example of a type
that could be designed to be accessed by disease management professionals.
NASA was the first to use Cybernet's Internet medical technology to
monitor an astronaut's physiological data while in space. NASA
scientists collected the data and tracked changes as they related to
time in space, an astronaut's weight and the effects of sleep deprivation.
Cybernet's MedStar device is the first commercial application of the
company's proprietary technology, and is expected to have a positive
impact on at-home patient healthcare, particularly in rural areas.
