Hardware-assisted System Security Monitor Project Mission | Intellectual Property | Project Status Rootkits are becoming more and more prevalent on the Windows platform, even being installed in Sony CDs and some video game copy-protection schemes. Besides the malicious ones, all rootkits tend to open up a computer to further compromises. Since the host itself cannot scan for such problems, we are developing a low cost add-on PCI card that will allow local and remote scanning for rootkits such that rootkits cannot hide. This card is a Linux single board computer that cannot be compromised from the host system, since it is isolated. Automatic rootkit scanning card. Completed. |
