Ann Arbor-based Cybernet Systems Corp. was chosen to compete for a collection of contracts totaling $17.5 billion over 10 years.

The contracts, awarded by the Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training & Instrumentation, will allow Cybernet to bid for contracts to provide warfighter simulation and modeling programs for the U.S. Department of Defense.

Cybernet Systems is a research and development company that creates simulation and training systems, among other things.

The company will be able to compete against both small businesses and larger companies for the contracts, said Charles Cohen, Cybernet’s vice president of research and development.
