HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — The U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, has awarded a contract, not to exceed $28.7 million, to Cybernet Systems Corporation, of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The contract is in support of the Defense Ammunition Center’s global mission. It is for ongoing development, manufacture, delivery, setup and integration of 25 Automated Tactical Ammunition Classification System (ATACS) units at locations both inside and outside the U.S. to support military operations. The contractor will also provide operation, maintenance and program management support of the fielded units.
The contract is an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity Contract, base year with four option years, Contract W912DY-07-D-0008.
The initial ATACS was designed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in the summer of 2004. The first ATACS was delivered and installed at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, in November 2004 and the second system was deployed to Fort Irwin, Calif., in September 2006. The ATACS automatically inspects for chambering dimensions, defects, concentricity, bent bullet tips, dents, corrosion and perforation, and sorts small arms ammunition of various sizes into multiple containers.
