Ann Arbor, Michigan - Cybernet Systems Corporation, a leading defense, engineering, and simulation systems development company, today announced that they have been awarded a contract from the Department of Homeland Security to develop algorithms for predicting possible criminal behavior (or “pre-crime”).
Cybernet is currently working with the Los Angeles Police Department and the Department of Homeland Security to demonstrate that locations and likely crime events can be predicted from crime event report databases. The effort uses LAPD datasets to provide crime analysts with the means for determining non-obvious relationships between reported criminal events and possible future locations of criminal behavior. The system will find uses in both crime prevention and police resource allocation. Related applications will include identification and tracking of terrorist and insurgent networks.
