Concept to Control -- Using Virtual Reality to Test UGV Man-Machine Interfaces and to Control UGV Systems

Based on previous research, Cybernet developed and tested a theory that certain visual tasks during driving can be shown to require a measurable and predictable amount of focus. Based on this theory, Cybernet performed primary research and developed task-programmable machine vision software for use in teleoperated robotic applications. This project involved developing a working theory, collecting empirical data, and analyzing the data to develop a working model of the way the human vision system processes task-specific data. Using this model, Cybernet developed and tested the prototype machine vision system with flexible programming modules to accommodate specific vision tasks.
