Machine Recognition for Reality Registration in Ordnance Fuse Removal

The use of robotically controlled excavation vehicles for defusing unexploded ordnance (UXO) was facilitated by Cybernet contributed machine recognition system that was integrated with an Air Force UXO excavator.. In this project, Cybernet performed a comprehensive study of existing defusing technology and UXO conditions, developed a database of ordnance data in modeling format, and developed proof-of-concept systems for a machine vision recognition system and an image/model-based pose determination system.
