Cybernet evaluated the feasibility of using computational design methods to develop a multi-sensor suite perimeter surveillance system optimized for cost, size, power consumption, function consolidation, and parts consolidation. The design resulting from the computational optimization algorithm was compared against the Remote Sentry mission criteria as an heuristic baseline, showing that for complex tasks, computational design is in some respects superior to human performance and definitely faster.
