Cybernet is supporting the U. S. Air Force by developing a system to identify and track endangered and threatened species at Edwards Air Force Base. These statistics are reported to the government to help shape policy concerning the protection of these animals. The technology behind this system includes Cybernet’s patented gesture recognition technology, previous work done for automated surveillance, and cutting edge image processing and machine learning. When complete, the system will be a stand-alone unit that is self-contained and self-powered, man-portable, and weather-proof.  These units will be placed throughout the area of interest in order to get a wildlife census of unprecedented accuracy.
