Cybernet explored a range of design options for freely moveable, spatially unrestricted devices light enough to be held in the user’s hand. As a result of this research, Cybernet developed a prototype of a 3-degree-of-freedom device, which uses 3 rotating gyroscopes to create a stable “platform” in free space to generate the torque required by the joystick, interpreted and controlled via sophisticated control software.
