Cybernet Systems Corporation is honored to announce that its NDT Tracker for Mobile C‑Scan Generation has been named the winner of the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) 2025 Commercial Technologies for Maintenance Activities (CTMA) Technology Competition.
The Tracker was selected from three finalists who presented their innovations in person at NCMS headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on June 17, 2025. A panel of Joint Technology Exchange Group (JTEG) principals and a representative from Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRC‑SE) evaluated the demonstrations and awarded Cybernet the top prize, including $100,000 in project support funding.
“Earning the CTMA Technology Competition award is a testament to how the Tracker is accelerating nondestructive testing for the defense maintenance community,” said Kevin Tang, research engineer at Cybernet and co‑inventor of the system. “We designed the Tracker to give inspectors immediate insight into scan coverage and cut grid inspection labor in half, and this recognition underscores its mission impact.”
Developed in partnership with Tinker Air Force Base (AFB) and Robins AFB, the mobile Tracker streamlines ultrasonic (UT) grid inspections by displaying coverage in real time and automatically generating C‑Scan deliverable reports. The system eliminates manual grid layout, increases per cell inspection speed by a factor of 10, and supports airlines and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities around the world in mapping damage and verifying material thickness quickly and accurately.
This latest honor follows the Tracker’s win at The American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) 2024 “Cool New Ideas” competition, where conference attendees voted it as their favorite technology.
